SMC4 Modul I: Basic Training

Training objective:

The information gained through this training module will give the participants basic knowledge of the individual application uses for the SMC 4. They will also learn how to access and navigate the software, as well as be able to read out the SMC 4 Multi-Controller for the yearly service inspections.

Furthermore, participants will be able to activate standard input and output relays for the optional features such as load display and be trained on reading out the I/O overview dashboard for troubleshooting.

Content:

• Product overview and comparison with existing devices
• New terminal connections for both Safety and non-Safety relevant requirements
• Performance Levels and functional logic for higher safety requirements
• I/O including communication methods and optional extension block
• Safety related functionality and monitoring
• Optional functions & features such as ALC+, Brake monitoring, partial load & load display
• Performing Safety relevant tests such as Rotation Control
• Accessing the New Software and connection hardware
• Navigation in the Software
• Explanation of the individual functions & features

Participants:

This training module is for technicians with previous experience on our Multi-Controllers such as SLE & SMC 2x devices.

SMC4 Modul II: Advanced Training

Training objective:

This training module will give participants a comprehensive insight into the complete application SMC4 with integrated Magnetek Series 4 VFD’s on the STAHL CraneSystems hoists.

After attending this training, participants will have gained the expertise to make calibrations on the load settings for hoisting, carry out troubleshooting and fault finding, including rotation control and speed monitoring settings.

The Magnetek Series 4 VFD will be handled in detail including standard parameters and settings for hoisting and travel applications, enabling participants to navigate through the complete parameter tree both with the display and through the Software Impulse Link 5.

• Application parameters for I/O signals and their values
• Functional logic and communication in VFD application
• Parameters used for monitoring VFD, tolerances and threshold values
• Speed supervision & rotation control parameters
• Special features incl. ALC+ (Automatic Load Control) and AUL (Advanced Ultra Lift)
• Troubleshooting and fault finding
• Load calibration via password access
• Hands-on Training

Frequency Drive

• Product overview of the Magnetek Series 4 VFDs
• Navigation through the parameters (Display & Software)
• Detailed explanation of start and stop process incl. brake check faults
• Safety functions such as SafeTorqueOff
• Application specific parameters in the Series 4 VFD
• Troubleshooting incl. Fault monitoring, Trace & History
• Full functionality of the Impulse Link 5 Software
• Application with Rope Drum Brake
• Hands-on Training

Participants:

This training module is for technicians with previous experience on our Multi-Controllers such as SLE, SMC 2x devices and Module I SMC4 Basic Training.
